Antonin Artaud: 

Artuad was a complex character with a troubling childhood. He was the founding father of Theatre of Cruelty, the idea that by making an audience face their fears and darkest thoughts they can go away resolving these It 'attacks the spectators subconscious in an attempt to reveal deep rooted fears'. It minimizes text and focused on used graphic imagery and pushing the human body to the limit in front of an audience, really testing the audience emotionally”. He was also part of the surrealist movement

He was addicted to many drugs including opium, which were partly to do with his obscure and abstract ideas.  Slowly he began to deteriorate until he became completely mental.
